The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Washington DC Post (Chapter) National Security Programs and Readiness Committee is engaged in an active and robust National Security outreach initiative, that includes the maintenance and implementation of a Readiness Fast Start Plan to assist federal, state and local government agencies meet contingencies by providing useful Sustaining member firm capabilities and resources - in preparation for disaster response and our national preparedness needs. The Washington DC Post National Security Programs and Readiness Committee has a number of other initiatives under way that will be periodically posted to our web site.
The committee has a solid caliber of members including Mike Pavlides, Stanley Murphy, P.E., Jim Simpson, and Anna Ross, as well as National Committee Chair Nelson Mix. Leadership is provided by Tom Spencer, Chair.
The committee had a flawless transition from 2005 into 2006. The first committee meeting in 2005 focused on a thorough overview of committee activities in 2005 and long-term planning of action items for this year. In addition to the Washington DC Post 2005 National Security Programs and Readiness outreach initiatives, the committee is determined to provide value to the Washington DC area in potential times of need. This determination is evident in the maintenance, electronic implementation, and community outreach of the SAME Washington DC Post Fast Start Plan (Readiness Plan). The Fast Start Plan is a professional emergency response/readiness electronic resource. You will want to participate! If you would like a copy of the SAME Washington DC Post Fast Start Plan please contact Ben D. Pina, P.E.
A commitment letter (Word document, 61K), encouraging our Sustaining Member firms to participate, and a corresponding capabilities questionnaire (Word document, 36K) are available for completion. Please fill out and email your Sustaining Member Capabilities Questionnaire to Ben D. Pina, P.E.
The goals and objectives of the Washington DC Post's National Security Programs and Readiness initiatives go hand in hand with the goals and objectives of SAME and with the SAME mission Support to National Defense! This year, we have already surpassed expectations and are going beyond the call of duty.
The Washington DC Post's focus is on - Partnership, Relevance, Education, Planning, Awareness, Recognition, and Evaluation. PREPARE!

"The Washington DC Post Readiness Committee is dedicated to engaging our Sustaining Member Firms in this effort to ensure continued preparedness, response to natural disasters and Dedication to Our National Defense - essential to the security and well-being of our members, our industry, and our nation."
