Support to SAME
SAME Washington DC Post > Outreach and Communications

In addition to many community outreach initiatives led by Washington DC Post members, our Post also strongly supports overall Society initiatives. The Washington DC Post, like other posts, is an extension of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). We represent what the Society has to offer, and share that with our membership and our community leaders. Our members not only give of themselves to plan activities and programs at the Washington DC Post and in our community, but also take time to serve on SAME National Committees, and participate in SAME Regional and SAME co-sponsored events and conferences. In addition, Washington DC Post Sustaining Member companies and public agencies continue to sponsor events both at the Washington DC Post and at other SAME conferences and events. We extend our thanks to all of the Washington DC Post Sustaining Member companies and public agencies. Thank you for your continued support!

Washington DC Post Sustaining Member Banner of Thanks

As the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) continues to align and realign its structure and mission initiatives, the Washington DC Post continues to strategically respond to these initiatives by taking on intense projects that, together, comprise our Post's Strategic Realignment in support of the Society. In recent years, these initiatives have included:

  • Strategic Membership Growth
  • Strategic Scholarship Program Expansion
  • Scholars and Honors Gala Launch
  • Strategic Outreach and Communication Initiatives
  • Bylaws Task Force
  • Web Site Redesign
  • Newsletter Redesign

The Washington DC Post incorporates new SAME directives to its operations and mission initiatives. This includes the leadership and participation of our Washington DC Post Bylaws Task Force to align our operations and committees with the long-term strategic goals and objectives of SAME, while at the same time retaining our unique Post identity.

The Washington DC Post has participated in hosting a number of SAME Regional conferences and continues to take part in planning SAME co-sponsored events. The Washington DC Post leadership team is presently building momentum to assist with an upcoming Small Business Conference Workshop. The Washington DC Post now has annual programs that include:

  • Annual Scholars and Honors Gala
  • Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
  • Annual Awards Ceremony
  • Annual Installation of Officers and Directors
  • Annual Ceremony in Recognition of our Deployed Troops

In addition, Washington DC Post members write articles and submit them for consideration to SAME National for possible publication in The Military Engineer and SAME's News.

There are over 100 Washington DC Post SAME Fellows and over 190 are young members. Fellows have the experience and the skills to mentor young members, and young members have the drive and the desire to learn more. That's a strong combination! In addition, Washington DC Post Fellows and Young Members serve on the annual planning committee for the Academy of Fellows Golden Eagle Awards dinner, serve on SAME National Committees, serve as Washington DC Post Officers and Directors, and serve on Washington DC Post Committees. They are fully engaged in the SAME mission and continue to enhance our connections with SAME.
