MATHCOUNTS Volunteers Needed
The SAME DC Post is looking for volunteers to help score exams at the MATHCOUNTS Chapter Level Competition on March 8th. MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement through grassroots involvement in every U.S. state and territory. The MATHCOUNTS competitions have individual and team components comprised of fun and creative problems that promote critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

"Aligning your Building Program with the DC Stormwater Regulations & Credit Bank"
Please join the SAME DC Post and CMAA NCC on Wednesday, March 12th for a joint program on DC’s new stormwater regulations. DC is leading the nation in low-impact and sustainable infrastructure through the implementation of new stormwater regulations and a credit bank affecting building permits and land use.
Our esteemed panel of experts will help District building owners and consultants understand the new regulations. Earn 3.5 CEUs while hearing from speakers from DC Water, DC DGS, DDOT, DDOE, the Center for Watershed Protection, Contech Engineered Solutions, Columbia Green Technologies, and Greening Urban. Mentors and Volunteers Needed for FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology
The SAME DC Post is recruiting volunteers for local FIRST Robotics Competitions (FRC). Individuals can volunteer to work the events as judges, inspectors, field crew, etc.
Greater DC FRC Regional: March 27 - 29 at the GMU Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia
Chesapeake FRC Regional: April 3-5 at UMD Comcast Center in College, Park, Marlyand
The events will finalize local robotics in the area until the Fall of 2014. At that time FIRST will have a need for coaches and mentors for elementary thru high school programs. They need both technical and non technical mentors and coaches.

2014 USA Science and Engineering Festival – Volunteers Needed
The USA Science and Engineering Festival is quickly approaching! Please join SAME National and the SAME DC Post at their booth Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th at the Washington Convention Center. The Festival is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community and spread awareness of the engineering field.
Volunteers are needed to represent SAME at our booth. Time slots are still available for Saturday and Sunday - provide your preference while you still can! We are also in need of exhibits for the Festival attendees to interact with.
Please contact Corinn Bovi at Manhattan Construction (Corinn.Bovi@manhattanconstruction.com) if you can volunteer at the booth and/or have an exhibit to showcase at the booth.

WSSC Scholarship for College Students
The Commissioners of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) offer the annual Joyce Starks/Gene Counihan Engineering Scholarships to college students majoring in engineering fields that are
vital to the work of WSSC.
Named in honor of former Commissioner Joyce Starks and current Commissioner Gene W. Counihan, the goal of the scholarship is to build a pipeline of engineering talent and innovation. Applicants must write an essay to answer an engineering-related question. Two students will be awarded $1,000: one to a Prince George's County resident and one to a Montgomery County resident. The winners also receive priority consideration for the WSSC Summer Internship Program.
