Fifth Annual Awards Luncheon and Installation of Officers and Directors

MWAA Update / EPA Workshop
MWAA PROGRAM: Presenter: Daniel J. Feil, FAIA, Staff Architect and Design Project Manager with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority in Washington DC, discussed the status of the Reagan National Airport and the Authority's goals, procurement process, and the Architectural Enhancement Program in the New Terminal.

EPA WORKSHOP: Presenter: Carlos Pachon, USEPA Technology Innovations Office gave a presentation on the available internet resources that assist technical professionals with environmental restoration, remedy decision making and associated cost estimating. The workshop covered both government and not-for-profit resources and environmental web site navigation.

Red Horse's Proud Heritage, Promising Future
Lt.C Tracey Walke, gave a presentation on how the Air Force activated its first two Red Horse squadrons, the 554 th and the 555 th Civil Engineering Squadrons (Heavy Repair), assigned to HQ Pacific Air Forces organization. She explained how Red Horse deploys worldwide and supports civic action facility construction programs, contingencies, and mission facility and runway construction programs. She also explained how they are using contractors to help leverage their strategic and operational responsiveness.

Air and Space Museum at Dulles Airport
Bob Barr, AIA, Senior Principal and Chief Administration Officer, and Walter Urbanek, AIA, Principal, both of Hellmuth Obata + Kassabaum, Inc, gave a presentation on the status of the National Air and Space Museum at the Washington Dulles International Airport.

Knowledge Management Workshop
This workshop included presentations from both government and industry on their Knowledge Management Programs.

Doing Business with the Department of Defense Overseas
Presenter: Don Kisicki, PE, with the Washington DC USACE HQ discussed the USACE international affairs and touched upon the Navy and Air Force international affairs initiatives. He explained how to prepare for business oversees, especially with the DoD, and provided an overview of the broad spectrum of available opportunities.

Pentagon Renovation Update
Presenter: Walker Lee Evey, Program Manager, Pentagon Renovation Program Office, gave an update on the Pentagon Renovation Program.

Washington's Waterfront Revitalization: East of the River
Panel representatives from the District of Columbia Office of Planning, U.S. Navy and key individuals in the private sector gave a presentation and discussed changes and how they may affect the community.

Design-Build
Presenter: Mark Grammer, Senior Engineer in the Technical Policy Branch at the USACE HQ.

FEMA and Their Evolving Role in this Time of Change
Presenter: Craig Wingo, Director of Engineering, Science and Technology Division at FEMA.
