The following projects highlight Shaw E & I's expertise in our five major service areas.
Design & Construction Joint Aviation Helicopter Maintenance Facility at Kabul International Airport, Kabul, Afghanistan
As the prime contractor to USACE Afghanistan Engineering District, Shaw E & I is responsible for design, procurement, construction, and all aspects of quality, safety, security, and life support/logistics for the Joint Aviation Helicopter Maintenance Facility at Kabul International Airport. Setting up security procedures, coordinating the delivery of supplies, and hiring local subcontractors all while working in a hostile environment are just a few of the challenges posed during this project. Shaw E & I has established relationships with several companies to provide logistics control, and has hired and trained more than 50 Afghan nationals to support the construction effort. The 23,200 sq. ft. facility which includes several buildings, two helicopter maintenance hangars, and two warehouses is scheduled to be completed by late 2006.
Emergency Management & Response Temporary Modular Buildings, New Orleans, LA
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, many buildings were damaged by wind and flood waters and were rendered unusable. Shaw E & I quickly responded to the needs of multiple organizations by delivering and installing 64 temporary modular units in over 10 different locations. These fully functional and specifically tailored units allowed for the various organizations to resume their business while awaiting repairs on hurricane damaged buildings.
Facilities Management Stennis Space Center, Mississippi
Partnered with Mississippi Space Services (MSS), Shaw E & I provides site-wide facility maintenance and operations services to NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center (Stennis). Our individual responsibility at Stennis is for HV electrical distribution and providing emergency back-up power, engineering, and maintenance for the rocket engine test facilities to include machine and welding shops. Shaw E & I also offers services in plant operations; facilities maintenance and repair; maintenance, communications, vehicle and general support equipment repair.
Logistics & Contingency Operations Fort Benning Base Operations Support, Georgia
Shaw E & I provides all logistics support and public works services at Fort Benning. At this large DoD installation, we are dedicated to ensuring that the training, deployment, and return of our nation's military servicemen and equipment is successfully accomplished. Shaw E & I's support services include properly equipping each soldier for deployment, shuttling deploying soldiers, refueling military aircrafts, assisting in the deployment of numerous Army Reserve and National Guard organizations, repairing equipment such as heavy equipment transporters and armored vehicles as they return from Iraq, shipping equipment to armories, and preparing ammunition for both overseas shipment and Fort Benning training exercises.
Remediation & Environmental Services Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP), Nationwide
Shaw E & I has been a dedicated partner in assisting USACE in identifying technical solutions and generating innovative approaches that increase program efficiency and successful cleanup of sites contaminated with radioactive waste as a result of the nation's early atomic weapons development program. Shaw E & I teams provide site characterization, remedial design, regulatory and project planning, project management, and guidance of site activities at several locations nationwide.
